Are You Ready to Cross?

Do You Believe That He Can?

28When He went into the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe [with a deep, abiding trust] that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” 29Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith [your trust and confidence in My power and My ability to heal] it will be done to you.” 30And their eyes were opened. And Jesus In Greek this term suggests an emotional indignation or violent displeasure. It occurs five times in the NT (four times in reference to Jesus’ words or feelings): Matt 9:30; Mark 1:43; 14:5; John 11:33, 38.sternly warned them: “See that no one knows this!”

Matthew 9:28-30 AMP

“Do you believe that am I able to do this?” It’s the question that Jesus asked the blind men who were yelling out to him from the crowd, and followed him to the house. Jesus knew what he was capable of, what they desired, and whether or not they believed that he was able to heal them. Like the woman with the issue of blood earlier, their faith had set the conditions for their healing. They believed in their mind/heart, and confessed with their mouth that Jesus could heal them before they approached him, or even heard that he was coming down the road towards them. I believe that they moved to search for Jesus based on their faith/conviction that Jesus could AND would heal them. I believe that they placed themselves in Jesus’ path, and after realizing that he was going to keep going, pursued him knowing that he possessed the healing that they needed and wanted. Jesus asked them whether they believed that he could do it, but this question wasn’t for him to hear, but so that they would confess with their mouths before the crowd of onlookers their faith in him and his healing power. The profession of our faith to ourselves and certainly in the presence of others is a determining factor in us receiving our healing and salvation. The profession is important because typically you must first believe in your mind/heart before you speak something with your mouth. The blind men believed that Jesus could heal them before they spoke it, and then they moved to pursue him out of their faith and conviction that he could AND would do it. When Jesus healed them, he said according to your faith you are healed, stating that their healing was a direct result of their faith, not his actions. For us that have accepted and believe in Jesus, he has already released everything that we stand in need of or desire, but it is up to us to believe (have faith) that he can do it, and more importantly HAS already done it. “According to your faith [your trust and confidence in My power and My ability to heal] it will be done to you!!

Reflection Time

Do you believe that God can do what you are in need of? More importantly do you believe that he will do it? What do you speak about your own situation? Do you realize that what you speak is reflective of what is in your heart/mind? Change your words which can change your perspective, and ultimately change what you believe. In your prayer closet, car, bathroom, or wherever you talk to God, I want you to profess what you need AND desire from God, and let him do it.
