Are You Ready to Cross?

I can’t believe it’s you: WHo healed you? Pt 1

While He was passing by, He noticed a man [who had been] blind from birth. His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi (Teacher), who [a]sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but it was so that the works of God might be displayed and illustrated in him. We must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the world [giving guidance through My word and works].” When He had said this, He spat on the ground and made mud with His saliva, and He spread the mud [like an ointment] on the man’s eyes. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of [b]Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went away and washed, and came back seeing. So the neighbors, and those who used to know him as a beggar, said, “Is not this the man who used to sit and beg?” Some said, “It is he.” Still others said, “No, but he looks like him.” But he kept saying, “I am the man.” 10 So they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?” 11 He replied, “The Man called Jesus made mud and smeared it on my eyes and told me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received my sight!” 12 They asked him, “Where is He?” He said, “I do not know.”

John 9:1-12 AMP

This is an interesting passage in the gospels because it would be one of the only ones where neither the person in need, or friends of theirs petitioned Jesus for a healing/blessing. This passage starts with Jesus and the disciples walking through and his disciples noticing a blind man, which led them to ask Jesus the reason for his blindness. Jesus uses their curiosity as an opportunity to once again show his power and healing abilities. This passage has several lessons that we should take note of

  • Some of the things that we endure or struggle with is of no fault of our own….or our parents for that matter. Jesus said that neither the blind man nor his parents or their sin was the cause of his condition, but rather so that God could get the glory through his healing. We spend countless hours and energy trying to identify the source of our problems, and even more time falsely attributing blame to people and circumstances. Some things that we go through is merely to redirect or focus our attention on God, who is the only one capable of providing deliverance; and will provide it when we come into true relationship with him.
  • Jesus is able and willing to heal us if we would allow him to. Jesus saw this man’s condition and desired to heal him without the man asking, or anyone else for that matter. Jesus who is aware of the cause of our condition and what we actually need can and will provide healing/deliverance to us, sometimes even in an unorthodox manner.
  • The light of the world is still present even though it doesn’t seem like it. When Jesus came to earth, he brought along with him light, and power/authority. During his ministry he demonstrated what heaven on earth looked like, and left directions for his followers (including us) to continue the work. When Jesus departed, he sent the Holy Spirit to teach and lead us in his physical absence from Earth. While the Holy Spirit is still here, we have the ability, access, and light needed to heal, deliver, and effectively carry out the father’s mission for our lives.

Reflection Time

How have people labeled you? What is the cause/source of your label? Are you aware of where your healing came from? Have you accepted your healing, or do you believe that you can be healed? Are you walking and working in the light?

Asking questions are genuinely pleasant thing if you are not understanding anything completely, but this post offers nice understanding even. Aurelia Urban Almeeta

Thank you for reading and providing feedback. Alot of people judge themselves negatively for asking questions, but I believe that we must be honest with ourselves when we are having doubts or a lack of clarity. God can handle our questions and he already knows what is on our mind and in our hearts whether we disclose it or not. I believe that being honest with self and God is important in our journey through life.
